London, 19 June 2018: Meridian were at London Tech Week’s flagship event, TechXLR8, Chairing the Smart Transportation and Mobility conference.

Speakers included Michael Hurwitz, Director of Transport Innovation at TFL who talked about the challenges of fitting huge volumes of people into a fixed geographical location, Bryn Balcombe Chief Strategy Officer for Roborace, about how they are learning from racing autonomous cars against each other and Andy Davis, Transport Cyber Security Practice Director at NCC Group on the risk side of CAVS.  Alongside keynote sessions there were great panel debates with highlights including:

    • SMMT’s David Wong moderating The Autonomous Vehicle Reality Check session with Tim Marlow, amongst others, discussing how Insurers will be able to lower net rates because of new technologies. A session on the Ecosystem Earthquake with Sebastian Peck (In Motion) and Liad Itzhak (Here Mobility) on how the CAV community is pulling together to drive a collaborative ecosystem which puts the customer at its heart and uses transport aggregator services to make multi-modal transport, seamless. 
    During the opening remarks of the first day, Holly Marshall gave a high level overview of Meridian Mobility and included a description of all four Meridian Mobility 1 competition winners, TIC-IT, McTee, Midlands Future Mobility and SMLL and what their exciting projects intend to build in Testbed UK.
